Autumn-Winter 2017

Lilian Goldstein, Head of the Popular Music and Jazz Departement - Cultural Action

Which are the most frequent supports for electronic music?

At any point in the creative chain, SACEM has a way to help. The type of assistance requested the most is pre-production support for publishers, through the phonographic model, and help with promotion and the purchase of equipment. SACEM also supports numerous electronic music festivals and venues.

Which artists and electronic projects has SACEM helped recently?

Artists include Labelle, Leska, Rone, Spitzer, Arandel, Superpoze, Møme, Panda Dub, Deena Abdelwahed, Head on Television, and others. As for events, I can think of La Machine du Moulin Rouge, Festival Maintenant, Astropolis, and also French Beat, launched in 2013 and which aims to promote the French electronic scene to international audiences, as well as the BPM Contest.

Can you tell us, in a few words, about the BPM Contest?

The BPM Contest, created in 2011, is a springboard that honours electronic music producers and unearths the talent of tomorrow, in a tour with seven dates in the most influential clubs and concert halls for electronic culture in the world, which is France. Sixteen selected artists face off against each other in various cities across France under the watchful eye of the jury (of which SACEM is a part) and this year's sponsor, Molly.
